1. Klimafestivall showcases solutions for the construction transition

The inventory of the construction revolution has been successful!
These were three interesting, exciting, and thought-provoking days at the "Klimafestival für die Bauwende" in Düsseldorf's ALTESCHMIEDEHALLEN. The urgency of the situation was immediately underscored by the opening keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Dr. hc Hans Joachim Schellnhuber. "Carrying on as we are" will gradually destroy the living space of billions of people—and one day, even our civilization.
So, a Bauwende is needed! And for this transformation, interdisciplinary exchange within the industry on concrete solutions and for setting new impulses is needed. And so, over 3,000 participants attended this year's climate festival – both in person and online.

Visitors were treated to a comprehensive program featuring about 130 keynote and presentations, 19 workshops, and a trade exhibition featuring 74 manufacturers. The focus was on how the planning, construction, and use of buildings can be largely decarbonized and how the transition to sustainable and circular resource use can be achieved. The appeal: It's less about optimizing a system and more about a new way of thinking. It's about big visions, but also about small, immediately implementable steps toward them.

Festival ambassador Hannes Jaenicke, actor and patron of the Berlin-based Pelorus Jack Foundation, concluded by telling festival visitors that the gap seems to lie less in knowledge than in action.
"The review of the 2022 Construction Transition was a success! We are overwhelmed by the positive feedback from participants on this Construction Transition Forum. This encourages us, as information providers and networkers in the construction industry, to further develop and expand the Climate Festival for the Construction Transition," said Sven Hohmann, Managing Director of Heinze GmbH.
